Benefits of CBD
What are the benefits of CBD products? Can it help me?
As with so many other things in life, the answer is "it depends".
Many people who seek relief for pain, anxiety and better sleep have found CBD helpful.
CBD products can often help with all of these.
But various products affect each person differently, and finding the right product is a big part of the journey.
CBD oils (also called tinctures) come in many different strengths, textures and flavors.
There is also a difference between those oils that are water-soluble and those that are not. Walter-soluble
products (such as PUR7 and Green Roads) can be absorbed in the system more quickly.
Many oils are available in 15 and 30 milliliter (ml) bottles, in strengths
ranging from 100 to 1500 milligrams (mg) per bottle. The daily dose of these oils
normally ranges from a quarter of a milliliter (.25) to a full milliliter.
For those using CBD for anxiety or to help getting to sleep, or for a deeper sleep,
a smaller dose may work. For those using CBD for pain issues, it may take a larger dose.
When evaluating strength (and price), the key measurement to focus on is milligrams per milliliter.
For a 100mg bottle (of 15 milliliters), the milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml) is 6.6 (100 mg divided by 15 ml).
Most products display the total CBD for the entire package, so you may have to calculate the mg/ml if it is not also displayed.
If your daily dose is .5 ml - about half a dropper - your actual mg of CBD from a 100mg bottle
is about 3.3 per day. That is a relatively small daily amount.
Let's look at another example. Consider a daily dose of .5 of a 550mg bottle of CBD.
The mg/ml is 36.6 (550/15), so the actual mg for a .5 ml does is 18.3 mg –
over five times the amount in the 100mg example above.
What's the right dose for me?
Everyone must discover that for themselves. There are many factors involved, such as diet, activity (or lack of), time of day, other medications, etc.
A good recommendation is to start small and evaluate the effects. With a new oil, start with .25 or .50 milliliters. If taking daily, take the same dose for 3-4 days and judge how effective it is over that period.
If taking CBD to help with sleep issues, take when you are ready to relax and not doing other activities.
Increase the dose if it is not as effective as you wish. Especially when attempting to alleviate pain, it may take a larger dose to work effectively.
